Las’anod (RBC) At least 40 people were confirmed injured after a heavy fire erupted on a fuel station in the town of Las’anod, the northern region of Sool, RBC Radio reports on Monday.
The fire which started from a large fuel station at the city centre immediately spread to the suburb business buildings destroying dozens of shops there, according to residents.
The 40 injured people, some of them with critical injuries were rushed to the hospital foe treatment, according to Dr. Ahmed Addani, a health officer who operates at the central hospital of Las’anod.
Residents ans business owners were seen taking jerrycans full of water on their hands and rushing to the fire scene to put it off, as it was the only means for firefighting in the area.
Las’anod is a town administered by Somaliland despite Puntland and Khatumo states also claim its ownership.
The city has been a warzone since 2007 resulting the town and its residents to lack the basic services the people need.
