Mogadishu (RBC) Unidentified gunmen have attacked and killed three Syrian doctors and a Somali colleague on the outskirt of Mogadishu on Wednesday, RBC Radio reports.
According to local sources gunmen have ambushed the vehicle which the doctors were traveling to Fiqi Hospital, a privately-owned hospital at Celasha Biyaha location on the main Afgoye corridor.
The gunmen who seemed to be waiting the vehicle of the doctors begun to open fire as the doctors’ vehicle was heading to the hospital.
A fifth doctor of Syrian nationality were wounded in the attack while their two private bodyguards were also shit to death.
Dr Abdurahman Moalim Fiqi, the hospital director has said they did not aware that their doctors could be targeted because they were Muslims and working in a Muslim country.
“This will not affect our work and the services of Fiqi Hospital will remain to exist.” he said.
Somali Government officials who have reached the scene soon blamed the attack on the militant group of Al Shabab. Al Shabab had previously controlled the area before the government forces backed by the African Union Forces pushed them back.
