Mogadishu (RBC) Unidentified gunmen have shot and killed a national security and intelligence officer at Mogadishu’s Kaxda district on Wednesday evening, locals said.
The security officer Khalif Mohamud Ali was the head of the national intelligence office at Kaxda neighborhood of Mogadishu.
Eyewitnesses and district officials said gun men attacked the officer’s home and killed him. Two of his guards were seriously wounded in the attack.
The perpetrators fled as the police reached the area. No one was arrested until now but heavy search out operation was launched, the district officials confirmed.
Late Ali has been a focal person for the intelligence and security operation in the area and has helped foiling numerous explosions in the past, sources added.
His assassination was not blamed for any side and no side claimed. Al Shabab rebels have been popular in attacks against government officials.
