Mogadishu (RBC) The president of the Federal Government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Wednesday supervised several military facilities in the capital, Mogadishu in a bid security restoring efforts.
The president accompanied by the defense minister, and the leading military officers of the state visited the seat of the defense ministry, the central command of the military and several other bases.
In his address to military servicemen and woman, the president has pledged a full support for the improvement of the rebuilding the national army at a national level, while also undertook the government willingness to pay regular payroll to the servicemen and the woman.
“Despite some improvement there are still some of our members, or those who illegally use the name of the army to loot, kill the civilians or rape the women.” the president said in his address.
The defense minister of the federal government of Somalia, Abdihakim Haji Fiqi also noted that while the government intends to give full rights to the military servicemen and woman that the ministry will not tolerate some individuals using the name of the army to incite insecurity or loot the civilians.
During the visit, president Mohamud has changed the name of the former Somali Socialists Revolutionary Party Center to the 12th April Center giving its name after the national day of forming the first Somali National Army in 1960.
