Mogadishu (RBC) Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Monday established the National Security Council replacing the national security committee in Somalia, a presidential statement said.
“the president of the state officially chaired the first meeting of the National Security Council.” the statement from the president’s office which the presidential spokesman read said.
The National Committee Council comprises the prime minister, the interior minister, the defense minister, the foreign minister, the finance minister, the justice minister.
Also the the intelligence commander, prisons commander and the police commissioner will be members of the National Security Council as technical assistants.
“This council will be responsible for the national security.” the president’s spokesman Abdurahman Yariow said.
According to the statement the National Security Council will hold its meeting once on every week and will be addressing the country’s security situation and improving national security of Somalia.
