Somalia: PM mandates joint committee to resolve Jubbaland reconciliation

MOGADISHU (RBC) Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon has today mandated a 16 members-joint committee assigned to resolve the disputes on Jubbaland administration formation and reconciliation process, RBC Radio reports.

The joint committee comprises the interior ministry and the national security and members of Somalia Federal Parliament.

“Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon has issued a decree today in which he has named a joint committee from the cabinet and the parliament comprising 16 members to address the reconciliation process of Jubbas regions.” A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said.

“This committee will soon leave to Kismayo town and will be chaired by the depiuty interior minister and national security His Excellency AbdiGuhad Jamac Ahmed [better known as Oday].” The statement added.

The names of the joint committee are as follows;-

1.  MP Cabdiweli Sh Ibraahin Muudey   – Member
2. MP Xasan Macalin Maxamuud   –  Member
3. MP, Maxamed Iidle Geeddi (Xerow)   –  Member
4. MP, Cabdikaafi Macallin Xasan – Member
5. MP, Maxamed Maxamud Guure  – Member
6. MP, Cabdiraxmaan Xoosh Jibriil  – Member
7.  MP Cabdullaahi Yuusuf Xasan (Alankey)  – Member
8. MP, Maxamed Axmed Kulan  – Member
9.  MP, Samaan Maxamed Sheekh   – Member
10. MP, Cabdiwaaxid Cabdullaahi Jaamac      – Member
11. MP, Cabdullaahi Sheekh Ismaaciil  – Member
12. MP, Maxamed Maxamuud Ibraahin – Member
13. MP, Cabdiqaadir Maxamed Aadan  – Member
14. MP, Luuley Cabdi Aaadan – Member
15. Mr Aaden Ibraahim Aw Xirsi  – Coordinator

The formation of this new joint committee comes as the Federal Government of Somalia and the Kismayo interim administration disagreed on the ongoing Kismayo Conference which the government described as “unconstitutional”.
