Kampala (RBC) Uganda police expressed their vigilance against new terrorist attacks from the militant group on Somalia Al Shabab, which is affiliated to Al Qaeda, police spokesman said.
Simon Kuteesa said on Friday that they have received Intelligence information of possible attacks inside Uganda and by that the police were on high alert.
“The information we had shows the terrorists are planning to attack important places where the people meet.” he said.
The police spokesman said that they has strongly warned the citizens about the possible attacks as he insisted that the police and other security agencies had stepped up measures to prevent any attacks.
In July 2010, Uganda experienced bomb explosions that tore through two bars broadcasting the World Cup finals in Kampala, killing at least 74 people and wounding more 70 others. The credit of those attacks were taken by Al Shabab group which is battling against Somali Government forces and the African Union Forces in Somalia which Uganda is taking a leading role.
