Beledweyn (RBC) The governor of Somalia’s central region of Hiiraan, Abdi Farah Laqanyo has strongly deplored the killing of two civilians in Beledweyn town on Friday.

At least two civilians were killed and four others injured after Ethiopian forces shot at people in mosque in Beledweyn town, central Somalia region of Hiiraan on Friday.

The unreasoned shooting occurred during the Friday [Jumcah] prayer at Nuur Mosque at the centre of Beledweyn bringing heavy outrage from locals.

“We will not leave behind the blood of our people.” The governor said in an interview with local media.

“I have demanded a full investigation to this carnage against the civilians.” He added

The governor emphasized that killing innocent people could not be justified by any motive.

The Ethiopian forces in Hiiraan region did not comment on the reason of yesterday’s killing.

Beledweyn, a central Somalia town has been one of the most secured areas in the war-torn country since Somalia government forces backed by the African Union Troops [AMISOM] took over the town from Al Shabab militants in September last year.
