Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is set to leave to Ankara, turkey on Saturday for talks with Somaliland leader, a breakaway region in northern Somalia, RBC Radio reports.
The two-side talks will begin in Ankara, turkey on Sunday to negotiate the future of Somalia and Somaliland region which claims an independent state from Somalia since 1991.
According to sources, the Turkish mediated talks between Somalia federal government and Somaliland administration were still the works of the British government which is also arranging a large gathering on Somalia development next month in London.
Somalia’s interior minister Abdikarim Hussein Guled who is in Ankara for the talks said the two presidents will have first face-to-face meeting tomorrow without mediating any foreign government.
“President Ahmed Siilaanyo has already arrived Ankara and we also expect somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to join in the coming hours.” The minister said.
Somaliland foreign minister Mohamed Abdullahi Omar also confirmed the meeting and anticipated it will be fruitful meeting.
