Mogadishu (RBC News) Traditional elders from Bay & Bakool who took part in the ratification of draft constitution for Somali Federal government have received fresh death threats from Alshabab. Speaking to the media that often promote the group’s agenda, Sheekh Mahad C/kariin who’s the group’s envoy to Bay & Bakool threatened that they will assassinate the elders who attending the meeting in which Somali’s drat charter was passed.
Sheekh Mahad C/kariin vowed that they’ll kill anyone who took part in the charter’s ratification process should they arrive in these two provinces saying “Any elder who took part in the approval of Somali draft charter is like Augustin Mahiga and if they fall in the hands of Mujahidin (Alshabab fighters) they’ll be beheaded”
These new threats come amid surging Alshabab guerrilla attacks in Bay & Bakool following the withdrawal of Ethiopian defence forces from Hudur the provincial capital of Bakool which fell into the hands of Alshabab when Ethiopia and Somali government forces abandoned the city.
