Cairo (RBC) A delegation from Somalia’s Islamist function Al Islah Al Islamiyah has been visiting Cairo, the capital of Egypt since Tuesday, Egypt media reported.
The delegation led by Sheikh Mohamed Ahmed Nur [better known as Garyare] who is the chairperson of Al Islah Al Islamiyah function also included two other senior officials from the movement in Somalia.
Islah Al Islamiyah which is a well known moderate Islamist and relief organization in Somalia is affiliated to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and both sides have been exchanging visits and direct aid since the establishment of the association in Somalia in 1978.
A statement released by the Muslim Brotherhood spokesman Ahmed Aref said that both sides has discussed issues concerning the ordinary visit of the delegation from Somalia.
He said that the Muslim Brotherhood called for unity and solidarity between Somali Brotherhood members.
The visit is seen as the first official one since the Al Islah Al Islamiyah group in Somalia has split itself into two functions containing the “Old group” and the “New group”.
