BAYDHABO (RBC) A hospital in Somalia’s Southern town of Baydhabo has received the first medical aid since the town was recaptured by Somalia National Army backed by the African Union forces, Raxanreeb Online reports.
The medical aid which was provided by the recently appointed administration of Baay region included essential drugs, beds, stretchers and wheelchairs that were very useful to the hospital in this important time.
After giving the medical donation to the hospital management, the Governor of Baay regional administration Abdi Aden Hooshow said that the donation was first its kind that was provided by the new administration under the Somali federal government.
“The administration will continue seeking any kind of help to the hospitals in this region and this is only beginning.” Governor Hooshow noted. He added that today’s medical assistance was part of his recent pledge to restock the hospital and other public services in the region.
The director of Baydhabo general hospital Dr. Abdalla Gure also thanked for the generosity hand by the regional leaders as he emphasized that the donation came in a time that the hospital is struggling to receive more than hundred patients each day.
Baidoa general hospital is the only health post available in Baay and Bakool regions and has been experiencing a steady increase of patients since 2011 following the severe droughts that hit Somalia.
