Mogadishu (RBC) The new Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed has pledged that he will work on bringing peace and security back to the country hours after he was appointed as the new Premier of the country on thursday, RBC Radio reports.
Mr Sheikh Ahmed has made the pledge as attended on the phone at a support demonstration held in Cabudwaq district of Galgadud region.
“My first priority will be stabilizing the country and bringing full security to our citizens.” the new Prime Minister said.
He said that forming an effective system of governance and enabling to the people to obtain the basic services after the two decades long crisis in Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Thursday afternoon nominated Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed as the next Prime Minister of Somalia following the parliament’s vote out against the former Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon.
Mr Sheikh Ahmed is expected to go to the parliament and ask for vote of confidence before he names his cabinet of ministers within the next 30 days, in accordance with the Constitution.
