Barawe (RBC) The militant group in Somalia, Al Shabab has claimed on Wednesday that it carried out an ambush on kenyan police vehicle near the town of Liboye on Tuesday killing at least eight soldiers.
A spokesman for Al Shabab Abduasis Abu Muscab said that the fighters of Al Shabab killed eight police including one senior police officer between Liboye and the border of Somalia.
“The attack was successful and we confirmed hat eight soldiers were killed one f the senior officer,” Abu Muscab said.
“And their vehicle was burnt out following fierce gunfire by the Mujahiden” he added.
The group’s spokesman repeatedly vowed that they will continue to carry out attacks inside the territory of Kenya since the kenyan army were operating inside Somalia towns and operating under the African Union Forces [AMISOM].
Tuesday’s attack came just two days ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Kenya’s National Independence Day.
Kenya sent its troops to Somalia in October 2011 to pursue on Al Shabab following bomb attacks and several kidnappings inside Kenya.
