Beledweyn (RBC) Dozens of people, mostly young men were detained by the security apparatus in Beledweyne town of central Somalia region as tight security measures continue in the region, RBC Radio reports.
The police carried out heavy search operation after deadly suicide explosion targeted the town’s police station last week killing more than 20 people including members of the security forces.
According to Hiiraan police commissioner, Col Isaq Ali Abdulle the police targeted the non-resident people in Beledweyn whom he believes were the main root for insecurity in the town.
“We have detained more people and we are investigating their cases.” Col Abdulle said in a press conference today.
He said all those detained were from other regions who have failed to comply with the recent warning from the region’s authority to leave Beledweyn within two days.
“We will arrest anyone who was nor born in Beledweyne and we will deport them back to their areas.” he added.
