Baydhaba (RBC) Somalia Parliament Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari has reached the southern town of Baydhaba on Tuesday to hold discussions with local elders and politicians, RBC Radio reports.
According to members of the federal parliament of Somalia who were accompanying the speaker in his visit to Baydhaba, Mr Jawari had started meetings with elders from the Baay and Bakool.
Last night the speaker’s first met with the elders and members of the politicians who have expressed the recently initiated of forming new local administration for the southern Somalia regions.
The visit of the Parliament Speaker came days after calls from Baay and Bakool regions asked members of the parliament and ministers hailing for the two regions to boycott the federal government and return to Baydhaba for consultations.
But the Speaker strongly rejected such calls saying that the only federal parliament, which the Baay and Bakool elders had their representatives included can hold back the government’s vote of confidence.
