Mogadishu (RBC) Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has returned back to Mogadishu on Wednesday after concluding one day visit to Marka town, the capital of the Lower Shabelle region, RBC Radio reports.
The president has changed his way back to Mogadishu from his land cruiser and used a military helicopter to reach Mogadishu.
According to a freelance journalist in Marka town, the president has changed his way back to Mogadishu because of yesterday’s ambush against his convoy by Al Shabab militants during his land travel from Mogadishu to Marka, 110 km south of Mogadishu.
Al Shabab spokesman claimed the attack through its twitter account.
The Interior And National Security Minister Abdikarim Hussein Guled said the president’s visit was successful after he has met with the local people in the region.
“The president came here to see the region and its people and also listen to their complaints, so he has officially finished his duty and returned back to Mogadishu for urgent work.” the minister told local media in Marka town.
