Mogadishu (RBC) Elders from Baay and Bakool regions on the south of Somalia have said that they have cut off ties with the federal government of Somalia alleging that the government signed agreement with warlords.
The demonstrations organized by clan elders have started on Saturday morning as hundreds of people have been marching in the main streets in Baydhaba town.
According to a freelance journalist in Baydhaba the people demonstrating against the federal government were chanting slogans rejecting last week’s peace deal reached in Addis Ababa by the federal government and the Kismayu interim administration.
“We consider the Jubba interim administration as self proclaimed administration and the federal government has now made its friend.” Elder called Malaq Shiine said.
Officials of the Baydhaba regional administration have also attended the demonstration which attracted hundreds of young men and women who were showing their outrage against the Addis Ababa agreement.
The demonstrators also called for the members of Somalia parliament from Baay and Bakool region to boycott the parliament and join to the campaign against the Addis Ababa agreement.
