Mogadishu (RBC) Somali security forces detain more than 20 people on Friday after heavy search operation at Mogadishu’s main market of Bakaro, RBC Radio reports.
The security forces detained 27 people from hotels in the market and are being questioned at police station.
The search operation came after several assassinations against security officials and hand grenade explosions occurred at the market in the past month.
Sources said the forces detained suspects of Al Shabab fighters who has been hiding themselves in a buildings in the market.
Armed attacks and explosions have risen up in the past two months following the Ramadan month after al Shabab vowed to scale up its attacks against government bases.
