SOMALIA: Djibouti FA declares shortlists youngsters for CJSOI tourney

Mogadishu (RBC) For the first time in history Djibouti will host a regional youth tournament for the countries under the umbrella of the Indian Ocean commission for youth and sport, the country’s football federation president and FIFA commissioner Mr Souleiman Hassan Waberi announces here in a press statement on Tuesday.
The president who is currently on an official tour in Addis Ababa said in his press statement that 50-member strong U-17 squad is now engaged in daily training sessions in preparations for next year’s CJSOI games to be hosted in his country.
“To practice what we have done so far, we are hosting the historic competition and we are hopeful that Djibouti will score a tangible victory during the rotational competition which is annually hosted by either of the groups’ member nations” President Souleiman Hassan Waberi said.
“The young shoulders who will represent Djibouti in the historic tournament were prepared under our youth development program which we started last year in the aftermath of the new leadership of football in Djibouti” President Souleiman Hassan Waberi noted in his press statement Tuesday.
“During my first visit to FIFA home as president of Djibouti Football Federation, I pledged in front of President Joseph S.Baltter that we will build football from the bottom and we are very proud that something tangible has been achieved since then” Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi added.
The presidential statement noted that after the CJSOI games, the  shortlisted strong team will be encamped and will continue its training sessions in a bid to be able to represent the nation in Future U-20 international and continental tournaments and finally to become the country’s senior national team.
Other competitions of different sports will also be played during the CJSOI games which will kick off in Djibouti in early January next year.
