MOGADISHU (RBC) Leaders from more than 50 states and international organizations have gathered in London, UK to attend the Somalia Conference today on Tuesday (May 7th, 2013) with the co-chairing of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and UK Premier David Cameron, RBC Radio reports.
The Conference is now increasingly attracted the attention of Somali people inside the country. RBC Radio reporter in Mogadishu says people are listening to radios while some watching TV screens to know more about the Conference in London. The meeting has to start on 9:00 am UK time (11:00 am Somali time).
“We want the international community to come up with one engagement to the Somalia matters.” Ali Mohamud, a university student in Mogadishu said.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will address the opening of the conference with a set of four major points plan, among the country’s Six Pillar Policy announced by the president in his election of last September, for rebuilding the country to the London Conference.
According to presidential spokesman, the Somali Government will share its plans to the participants and donors gathering at the meeting for developing the country’s security forces, the reform of justice, the public financial management system and a political stability reform.
The plan set by a joint committee from Somalia and UK will address time frames of executing the plans brought by Somalia government and to what extent will be the help role of the international community.
The international community is expected to agree how it will support the implementation of those plans; and for the Somali Government to outline how it intends to resolve the outstanding political issues within Somalia.
