MOGADISHU (RBC) The interior and national security minister of Somalia Federal Government Abdikarin Hussein Guled has survived a suicide explosion targeted to his car on Sunday morning in Mogadishu, RBC Radio reports.
According to eyewitness who spoke to RBC Radio, TOYOTA CARIB car laden with explosive devices exploded just at KM4 junction in Somalia capital, Mogadishu near Ex-Cinema Equator building and few metres away from the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu.
The suicide car seemed to target a convoy belonged to the interior minister carrying Qatari delegation who visited Mogadishu in the past days and were on their way to the airport to depart. The minister was not on board at the time of explosion.
At least five people were dead, including a security officer, a mother and her 10 years-old kid. Four other civilians were wounded.
Hodan district commissioner Abdi Mohamed Dhabaney told RBC Radio that also the minister’s car sustained with minor damages by shrapnel.
The security forces cordoned the area and begun operation as the firefighter team managed to put off the flames of the explosion that spread to the electric wires.
RBC Radio
