Harar (RBC) A prominent Somali poet and poem writer Abdullahi Mo’alim Dhoodaan has died in Harar town of Somali ethnic region of eastern Ethiopia, relatives confirmed on Friday.
Mo’alim Dhoodaan has died in Harar hospital on Friday morning where he has been since early this month.
Meanwhile the Somali authorities under Ethiopian led administration said the body of Late Mo’alim Dhoodaan will be buried in the region this week where the president of Somali Regional State of Ethiopia will attend.
Late Abdullahi Mo’alim Dhoodaan has been considered as one of the few greatest Somali poetry writers and has been known for rich and very complex style of Somali language in creating his poets. His work has focused peace, love, wars as well as advice to the Somali people.
During the military regime in Somalia before 1990 Mo’alim Dhoodaan has used his poems as critical to the military government that was in power.
He has left behind dozens of children and several wives.
