Kismayo (RBC News) The organizing committee of Jubbaland conference which is going on in Kismayo for its third month running after it has started in late February are now confirming that the conference is at its final stage.
The conference is aimed at establishing a regional state for the three southernmost regions of the country and has so far passed a draft constitution. As the organizers are stating the conference is due to be finished within the coming two weeks.
Though they have not released any time table for the activities ahead of the organizing committee, it’s supposed that the election of the president of this new administration will take place sometime next week.
“Prominent elders for these three regions are now convening in the airport for the selection of a delegation of 550 members who in their turn will select the president and the parliament of Jubbaland” a source told to RBC Radio.
Despite Somali Federal Government’s fierce opposition to the formation of Jubbaland State, the community of these three regions remain adamant about the establishment of Jubbaland State however it costs.
