Garowe (RBC News) The Italian Government has donated 15 pickup vehicles to Puntland police force in an effort to support the stabilization of Puntland.
The vehicles were handed over to the president of Puntland Dr. Abdurrahman Mohammed Faroole today April 21st by representative of the Italian ambassador to Somalia, and they inaugurated a newly finished Puntland Media Centre.
Puntland vice-president Gen. Abdussamad Ali Shire, speaker of the parliament Abdurrashid Mohammad Hirsi, members of the cabinet, MPs, police commanders and other guests were present at the ceremony where vehicles have been handed over to the president which took place the newly established media centre in the capital Garowe.
Following observations of the nature of the building of Puntland Media Centre which funded by Italy, the president and the Italian envoy Carlotta Wolf held press conference.
Speaking in the press conference, President Farole stated that the media center is built by the government, equipped by Italy and implemented by UNOPS.
The president also mentioned that the vehicle will be equipped with state of the art telecommunication equipment operated and controlled by police centres built by the Italy.
