Mogadishu (RBC) The new governor of southern Somalia region of Baay Abdi Aden Hoshow has on Thursday received high ranking officials from the United Nations aid agencies in Baydhabo town, RBC Radio reports.
The high ranking officials from UN agencies including World Food Program, World Health Organization and The Office of Coordinating Humanitarian Activities visited the town on Thursday in a bid to restore aid offices in Baay and Bakool regions where the aid agencies had difficult task since when the militans of Al Shabaab have closed down several aid agencies working in famine-hit Somalia, including some from the United Nations.
According to the regional administration of Baay region there was a closed door meeting between the officials from UN agencies and the regional authorities.
The visit of the agencies came after constant calls from the locals and the administration of the region to resume the aid operations in the region to help the people.
