Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has declared a new phase to eliminate the extremists of Al Shabab after deadly attack on Mogadishu courts building that killed more than 30 people on Sunday, RBC Radio reports.
“I want to declare that the government of Somalia is now on a new stage of fight against anti-peace elements in our country. The Somali people should take their role in this new operation to eliminate Al Shabab.” Somalia president announced on Sunday midnight shortly after urgent meeting with the national security committee at the state house.
“Soon in the following hours you will realize the result of the new war against the extremists within Mogadishu.” the president added as his face seemed angrily.
President Mohamud called for the Somali people to assists the security forces in nabbing the members of Al Shabab who are trying to hide into the civilian areas.
“To Somali people, you must bear in mind that these groups are not Muslims, they are the enemy of the Muslims, they are the enemy of Allah because they are killing his creatures without any reason.” the president noted.
“If you look back to all what they have did, It is not that they are fighting against the government or the security forces but they are in fight against every humankind- particularly the people of Somalia and the people of Mogadishu.”.
He said the security forces of Somalia will give their utmost efforts to secure the capital and the whole country in order not to allow the extremists the citizens to hate the government because of the growing insecurity.
Meanwhile the death toll of yesterday’s deadly attacks in Mogadishu increases to more than 30 people including two Somali famous lawyers and a journalist while 46 people were also wounded, head of Medina hospital confirmed on Monday morning.
The UN special envoy to Somalia Augustine Mahiga strongly condemned the attack and called for international help to the federal government of Somalia.
