Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia federal government has condemned yesterday’s failed assassination attempt targeted to the chairman of Somalia Islamic Scholars Council, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad.
Sheikh Salad has escaped unhurt after a bomb explosion hit his car at Hodan neighborhood in Somalia capital on Monday.
“We condemn in our highest terms the assassination attempts against Somali Islamic Scholars as we are against killing of the innocent people.” Somalia Information minister Abdullahi Elmoge Hersi said in a press conference in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The minister announced that the government should employ new security measures to protect the scholars whom he said that the militants might target them.
Shortly after the explosion, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad, One of the most respectful Somali Islamic clerics blamed the failed attach was behind by Al Shabab group.
The vehicle was seen heavily damaged in the backside as its tryres were crashed by the bomb explosionbut no one was hurt at all.
No group has taken the responsibility of the attack.
