Mogadishu (RBC) The chairman of Somalia Islamic Scholars Council, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad has escaped unhurt from a bomb explosion that hit his car in Mogadishu on Monday, he confirmed.
Sheikh Bashir’s car was heading to his office from home just before it blew off at Taleh street on Hodan neighborhood. No one was hurt including himself despite he was inside the car.
The 4WD vehicle was seen heavily damaged in the backside as its tryres were crashed by the bomb explosion.
In a press conference after the explosion, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad, One of the most respectful Somali Islamic clerics blamed the attach on Al Shabab group.
“This morning as I was driving on my car to office there was a big explosion which I believe came from inside the car, The bomb detonated at the backside of my car and smashed heavily. I thank my Allah that I am not hurt, No one at all was hurt including the driver.” Sheikh Salad said.
He said that investigations are being carried out to search for the motive behind the attack but also to his imagination he says that the attack could be attributed to his hard criticism against the militant group of Al Shabab.
“We know why they are targeting us was because of telling the right religion to the people.” He said adding that the group already assassinated many of Somali scholars within the same way.
The spokesperson Islamic Scholars Council, Sheikh Nur Barud Gurhan called for the militants to quit from wrong ideology of killing innocent fellow Somalis.
“I have called more than times and again I wish to repeat and you will not avail from assassinating clerics.” Sheikh Gurhan warned.
On Sunday the Islamic Scholars Council of Somalia called for the militant groups in Somalia to disarm and join into the peaceful ranks while condemning the strict behavior that the top Al Shabab commander maintains.
