Addis Ababa (RBC) Somalia’s deputy prime minister as well as foreign affairs minister Fawsiya Yusuf Haji Adam has arrived today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she will attend Inter-Governmental Authority on Development [IGAD] foreign ministers meeting this week.
The meeting which is supposed to focus on security matters in the region will also review the current developments going in Somalia as well as the IGAD initiated national security and stabilization plan.
“I am leaving to Addis Ababa to join the ministerial level meeting by the IGAD ministers. The purpose of the meeting is mainly about security and we shall put the table the national security and stabilization plan [NSSP” Ms Fawsiya told reporters in Mogadishu before she flew to Addis Ababa early today.
The minister anticipated that the meeting will support ways of building lasting peace and stabilityin Somalia. She says the plan, designed in September 2011 is intended to serve as the main conduit for alignment of both national and international assistances for the implementation of prioritized security inside Somalia.
“The NSSP was IGAD formed programme but now it has become a Somali owned plan and I am grateful that it will open the door of peace to our people.” Ms Fawsiya added.
Somalia government, elected in September last year has repeatedly cleared that it was the responsibility f the Somali government to ensure and any security activity inside the country while opposing the neighboring countries to lead instead of it.
