Mogadishu (RBC) The United Kingdom has warned its citizens in Somalia to leave soon and not to visit Somalia following a warning of possible terrorist attacks in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

On Friday, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said they warned British nationals to avoid travel to any part of Somalia because “terrorists are in the final stages of planning attacks in Mogadishu.”

A message posted on the Foreign Office’s website cited a specific threat to Westerners in Somalia.

“Any British citizens in Somalia should leave,” the message said.

“Our advice makes clear that there continues to be a big threat from terrorism and that the FCO believes that terrorists are in the final stages of planning attacks in Mogadishu.”

It added that there is a high threat from terrorism, including kidnapping.

It is the third alert from western governments. On December 2012 the U.S. State Department and the UK foreign office also issued similar alert to the American citizens inside Somalia including the break way region of Somaliland.

Somali government has not yet commented in the new threats reported by the western governments but one police officer told Raxanreeb Online that the national intelligence are watching the security situation in a close eye.

“We are vigilant, we watch it.” he said.
