SOMALIA: China to extend support for Somalia

Somali foreign and international investment minister Abdirahman Duale Beyle had met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. the two officials have discussed the reinforcement of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Bilateral meeting held at the Chinese foreign ministry centre in Beijing between the two ministers has focused mainly on security conditions of Somalia and the trade bonds between china and Somalia. The ongoing Chinese implementing projects in Somalia also includes issues talked about in this meeting.

Daule addressing the meeting commented on the security improvements so far achieved in Somalia and the plans of restoring law and order in all the regions of the country.

In addition, Dualle stated that Chinese government is expected to extend support for Somalia which can lead to creation of more jobs for the people of Somalia.

On the other hand, Chinese foreign relations head Wang Yi has congratulated the young federal government of Somalia for the efforts of restoring peace in Somalia adding that China has close diplomatic relations with Somalia.

Somalia and China had good diplomatic relation over 600 years before their relations seemed dim after collapse of the central government of Somalia and the start of civil war and nation destruction.

Somalia also in 1960 campaigned for china to get permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council which today gives China the ‘Veto power’.
