Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon has today welcomed the parliament’s vote of no confidence against his cabinet on Monday, RBC Radio reports.
In a press conference today, the outgoing Prime Minister said that he is ready to hand over the office and is convinced with the parliamentary decision.
“As I said before, I again welcome and support the parliamentary decision to oust my cabinet.” Shirdon said shortly after he presided over the cabinet weekly meeting in Mogadishu.
The cabinet meeting discussed the parliament vote of no confidence following the impeachment motion against the ten ministers cabinet.
“We have discussed the issue of the no confidence vote, I assure that it is great honour and historic decision for me to accept the democratic vote by the lawmakers.” Shirdon added.
He sad he has sent letters to both the offices of the president and the speaker showing his commitment to adhere the vote and to serve as a caretaker premier.
On Monday, following a hot debate by the parliament 184 lawmakers voted for no confidence against the cabinet ending the one year term of the government.
