Bosasso (RBC) At least ten people were confirmed dead after a suicide man riding on a motorcycle targeted a convoy of Puntland Marine Police Force [PMPF] in the port town of Bosasso, RBC Radio reports.
The explosion occurred near the city’s biggest marketplace shortly after the convoy carrying some foreign trainers returned from the market, according local sources.
Among the dead are Puntland Marine Police Forces connected to Saracen International, a South African based mercenary group operating in Puntland.
Local journalists report that the Bosasso hospital has received more than 20 injured including civilians who were caught on the explosion.
The town which is the largest commercial hub for the region, has its main streets cut off while hundreds of people rushed to the hospital to look if their relatives were among those affected in the explosion.
In a statement released today afternoon, The Puntland Government condemned the attack and blamed on Al Shabab militant group.
