Baydhaba (RBC)Heavy fighting has erupted in Somalia’s Baay region on Sunday between Somalia government forces and Al Shabab fighters, RBC Radio reports.
At least three government soldiers were killed after Al Shabab rebels attacked a government forces base at Dambal village on the Baay region.
Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi, who is Awdinle district commissioner said the government forces repelled back against the attack.
“The militants attacked against our forces bu they have encountered heavy repelion from our side.” Abdullahi said.
He added that Al Shabab fighters took away more dead bodies but he could not specially tell the number of their casualties.
Meanwhile there were no any comments from Al Shabab group. But a pro-Al Shabab website reported the militants seized the area.
Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi said Al Shabab fighters could not take away the area but they only did a hit and run attack.
