Mogadishu (RBC) The minister for trade and industries of the federal government of Somalia Mohamud Ahmed Hassan has rejected the legitimacy of the Somalia chamber of commerce as he also banned newly announced regional chamber of commerce, RBC Radio reports.
“We do not aware the so-called Banadir Regional Chamber of Commerce and our ministry does not recognize such chamber.” the minister said in a press conference in Mogadishu today.
On Tuesday a group of businessmen have gathered in Mogadishu’s Sahafi hotel and then announced the election of former warlord Abdirashid Shire Ilqeyte as the head of the new Banadir Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The minister of the trade and industries said his ministry did not know anything about the process to form a new regional chamber of commerce, which he termed as ‘illegal and unrecognized”.
The minister of the trade and industries of the federal government of Somalia also whispered ongoing investigations towards the Somali Chamber of Commerce And Industries which a group of business people have using for their sole interests instead of national chamber of commerce.
“Currently the ministry is conducting a probe up to the work and the legitimacy of this chamber. After our findings we should declare our position towards it.” the minister said in the press conference today.
The minister aid before the ongoing investigations no international and national organizations can collaborate with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Somalia which is chaired by Abdikarjm Gabeyre.
