Somali police forces have on Saturday destroyed several roadblocks that were set up UNDP contractors in Mogadishu violating traffic rules.
The head of Benadir traffic police Gen. Ali Hersi Gaab said following orders from the interior ministry and the national security the police removed more than three roadblocks on the main road that links the Mogadishu airport and the KM4 junction.
“As you know there have been so many security roadblocks that were set up by different agents. Today we have removed three of them that were set up UNDP contractor Security Company”. Ali Gaab said.
The head of the traffic said they will not allow any group to build roadblocks violating the traffic rules and hindering the free access of the people.
“We consider for the security matters but we will never compromise for the private firms to infringe upon the rules of this country.” He added.
Since a terrorist attack against Turkish embassy in Mogadishu last month, the capital of Somalia has been experiencing growing number of roadblocks which the government and people have largely complained against.
