On the Formation of Jubaland State of Somalia By Maakhir Community in UK
We Maakhir community in the United Kingdom wish to congratulate the president of the autonomous region of Jubaland State of Somalia Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islan and vice-president Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag.
We wish also to commend the people of Jubaland State for conducting their affair in an inclusive, democratic and transparent manner and in accordance with the Provisional Constitution of Somalia that stipulates that two or more regions can form an autonomous region.
We call on the Federal Government to refrain from sabotaging the Jubaland State and to come to terms with the formation of the autonomous region of Jubaland State and collaborate with its leadership in the national interest.
We call on the Federal Minister of Interior and Security to behave in a manner commensurate with the dignity of his office and to refrain from divisive, inflammatory and crass language, which may ignite further instability in the country.
We applaud and support President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for firmly emphasising, in his speech of 18th May 2013, his commitment to the protection of the territorial integrity (from Looya Addo to Ras Campione), sovereignty, political independence and unity of Somalia.
