MOGADISHU (RBC) Somali Police Spokesman General Abdullahi Hassan Bariise has said that the security of Somalia capital, Mogadishu has improved well since the security forces launched new operations on the main roads of the country’s capital city two weeks ago, RBC Radio reports.
“Following the operations by the security forces since last week, the city is now secure.” The spokesman told reporters in Mogadishu today.
He said that there were no imminent threat or explosions that the extremists could do in Mogadishu.
“The police managed to dismantle any attempts by the terrorists.” Gen. Bariise added.
Together with the African Union Formed Police, Somali security forces were struggling against militants possible attacks in the capital, while the main roads in the town were blocked from the movement of local buses in what the police described as prevention from more civilian casualties.
Last week Al Shabab spokesman warned that they will conduct more bomb attacks in Mogadishu “to show that Mogadishu was not secure”, as he said.
