MOGADISHU (RBC) Some of Al Shabab’s senior officials have condemned the assassination attempt against Omar Hamammi, (Abu Mansur Al Amriki), foreign fighter in Somalia last week which was blamed on the group’s top commander Ahmed Abdi Godane, a Jihadi website said.
A letter posted on the Al Jahad.com website this week, which its subject line was “Fatwa against assassination attempt against Sheikh Abu Mansur Al Amriki” strongly condemned and mentioned several previous attacks against the foreign fighters fighting aside with Al Shabab group in Somalia.
“The purpose of the fatwa is to clarify the stand of the Sharia on the failed assassination attempt against Sheikh Abu Mansur Al Amriki.”The letter written by five of Al Shabab’s senior commanders said.
“There is no any reason to adhere the Amir [Al Shabab leader] if he goes into deeds against the Sharia.” the letter said.
The five senior commanders namely Mukhtar Roobow Abu Mansur, Hassan Dahir Aweys, Abu Bakar A-Seylici [whose real name is Ibrahim Haji Jama Mecad Afghani], Zubeyr al Muhajir and Mo’alim Burhan Seikh Hashi also warned a serious breakup inside the group after some of the foreign fighters [Muhajirin] were assassinated and others arrested by Ahmed Godane without any charges.
“Among the Muhajirin brothers who are now under the target [from Godane] are Abu Mansur Al Amriki, Khadab Al Masri and Osama Al Baritani.” the said in the letter. “While the religion does not permit to kill any Muslim without reason”.
The five senior commanders concluded their Fatwa by calling Godane to stop assassinating the foreign fighters in Somalia and that he should beware of that they do consider him as he was only serving for the interest of himself rather than Islamic interest.
