Mogadishu (RBC) The President of Somalia Federal Government Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to face a parliamentary inquiry next month, the Speaker of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Mohamed Osman Jawari said on Tuesday.
“I want to inform the members of parliament that the president of the state will address the parliament and will respond a parliamentary questioning on 2nd May.” Jawari told the legislators on Tuesday after a meeting on Ankara Agreement was canceled due to consultations.
He said the legislators should get prepared for the session on May 2nd which the president will face the house.
Two weeks ago a group of legislators tabled a motion against the status of the Ankara agreement for what they described as “apparently violation” against the country’s union principles mentioned in the constitution.
The group also called the president to face the parliament for public inquiry in the next month.
This week the federal parliament of Somalia wrapped up questioning the country’s prime minister and several ministers in the cabinet in what the speaker described as a parliamentary campaign to hold the cabinet accountable.
