Minister of Defence praises the Somali military in the fight against Al-shabaab in Kismayo
His Excellency Defence Minister Abdihakin Mohamud Haji Fiqi today inspects military base in the port city Kismayo on his second day regional tour part of a high profile federal government delegation in region.
“You have done a great service to this country and your government is fully committed to improve the military competence and the life conditions of the servicemen and servicewomen. I have tell you that your job in this region is not finished until we defeat terrorists,” said minister Abdihakin addressing the second division Somali military base in Kismayo.
The minister pointed out the success of the Somali military in their effort to secure the national borders and fight against Al-Shabaab terrorist group. He stated that the Somali forces fought with small arms and minimum safety guards but with brave hearts. He calls the United Nations Security Council arms embargo lifted a good news for the Somali military and assured that the Somali military will soon get the equipment needed and to become a capable Somali force.
“Our military’s willingness to defend the pride of this nation from spoilers within our borders will never go un noticed. We will always remember you as our saviours, this country will remember you of your efforts to keep it safe,” said the minister Abdihakin Faqi. With the armed embargo lifted we will have strong military force capable of keeping our borders safe”.
In his efforts to boost the military sprit the minister gets detail reports from high ranking officials and inspected the military post in Kismayo, the headquarter of three regions on the southern parts of Somali bordering Kenya. These regions are still strong hold of Al-shabaab and the Somali military with AMISOM troops have been fighting against the group for the second year now.
