Mogadishu (RBC) The Prime Minister of Somalia Abdi Farah Shirdon has today reached in Yemen’s capital, Sana’ for official work visit, RBC Radio reports.
Somali Prime Minister has landed at Sana’ international airport around early on Monday where he was warmly received by Yemen’s health minister and other government officials as well as the Somali ambassador to Yemen Ismail Qasim Naji.
Shirdon will hold bilateral talks with the Yemeni President Abdu Rabbuh Mansur and Yemeni Prime Minister Mohamed Salim Bassanduwa.
“I will start bilateral talks with the Yemeni government officials, and I hope our talks will bring fruitful results,” the Somali Prime Minister said in a statement today.
He said the talks will focus on education, economic, security and political relations between the two states.
The Monday’s visit becomes the first by a Somali government official since he new federal government of the country has took office in September last year.
Yemen has been a long time Arab friend to former Somali presidents and warlords. It has hosted former Somali TFG president late Abdullahi Yusuf for years before he passed away in a hospital in UAE.
