BREAKING NEWS: A journalist killed three others wounded in Mogadishu suicide attack

MOGADISHU (RBC) A famous Somali journalist Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey was killed while three other journalists were wounded in a car bombing that hit near Villa Somalia in the centre of Mogadishu today, RBC Radio reports.

The journalist Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey who was working with Radio Mustaqbal, a private owned radio in Mogadishu was one of several people sitting a cafeteria near the National Theatre in Mogadishu where the suicide car hit today killing at least eight  people mostly civilians and government soldiers.

The journalist gas died from serious wounds after he was taken to the hospital.

Ilyaas Sheikh Ahmed, a freelance photographer who was working with the European Press Agency, Abdirashid Nur Ibrahim who working for Radio Mustaqbal and Munasar Nur who was working for Goobjoog radio, an independent radio in Mogadishu were also wounded.

The wounded journalists were admitted to the Medina Hospital.

Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey has been working as freelance journalist with Raxanreeb.com since 2010 before he joined Radio Mustaqbal.

“I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of our colleague Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey. He was a professional journalist.” Said Farah Ahmed Atto, the managing director of Raxanreeb.com.

Somali journalists are mourning another painful tragic for the loss of Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey.

More than 18 journalists were already killed in different assassinations and suicide explosions in Mogadishu in the year 2012.

Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey is the second journalist killed in Somalia so far this year.
